Dear Board of Supervisors:
Please defer any endorsement or commitment regarding the proposed Community Benefits
Agreement (CBA), and direct County staff to engage directly with the California Energy
Commission, and preserve the County's ability to evaluate the project once its full details
are available.
This is an extraordinary landscape, with extensive native blue oak woodland, wildlife
habitat, grazing land, and important watershed resources. The community deserves a
transparent process, informed by science and meaningful public participation, before
decisions are made that could permanently change this landscape.
Blue oaks and other oak trees actually pull up the groundwater level, as Mechoopda
TEK Master, Dr. Ali Meders-Knight teaches us, so removing them is going to deplete
groundwater. That makes no sense.
